ICT Profile Glossary

This glossary is a reference and a learning tool. It supports the understanding of concepts encountered while reading and helps in learning the ICT Profile for College Students vocabulary. You will find these words throughout the pages of this site dedicated to the ICT Profile, particularly in the detailed documentation on skills. This glossary will grow with the addition of content.

Working Aid
Any tool that supports the completion of work. For example: methods manual, list of examples, concept maps, writing aid on research topic, etc.
DOI
Digital Object Identifier. The DOI system provides a technical and social infrastructure for the registration and use of persistent interoperable identifiers, called DOIs, for use on digital networks. Digital Identity
Technological link between an actual entity (person, organization or enterprise) and virtual entities (their digital representations).
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is defined as a type of computing that relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. (Source: webopedia)
Spatial Intelligence
Spatial judgment and the ability to visualize with the mind's eye (Source: Wikipédia)
Licence
A licence (or license) grants the licensee permission, consent or clearance to use the copyrighted work according to the terms specified by the licensor, who is the owner of the copyright. (Source: Clinique juridique des artistes de Montréal)
Mediagraphy
List of all documents referenced, either paper documents, audiovisual or documents available on internet. (Source : Office de la langue française, GDT, 2001 - Free translation)
Metadata
Information that is held as a description of stored data. (Source: Collins English Dictionary). Data added to a digital document to describe it (its nature, content, history).
Concept Map
Research item important ideas that are expressed by key words.
Recall
Capacity to easily find saved documents.
