About the Author

She has had a busy career in education. With a M.Ed she taught all levels from kindergarten to university. However, most of her career was spent at the college level teaching ESL. She gave Performa courses, lead workshops at SPEAQ, RASCALS and l’AQPC. She served at the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur where she contributed to the evaluation of the general education components.She received grants from L’Entente Canada-Québec for various research projects. Susan is also the recipient of the AQPC Mention d'honneur Award. Having retired from teaching she became a contributor to Real Life Stories of education technology integration at Profweb. Chinese ink painting helps her relax and travel keeps her energized.

Learning ESL in an Active Learning Classroom at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles

The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles (CGIM) received funding from the Entente Canada-Québec (ECQ) for a special project that aimed to equip the college’s four campuses with active learning classrooms (ALCs) and to develop training workshops that would encourage teachers to develop active-learning teaching practices in English as a second language (ESL). I spoke with Anne-Marie Lafortune, the project leader, about active learning activities for ESL and active learning classrooms.

In 2014 Profweb interviewed Diana Bruno as she began work on a lexicon for the food service industry supported by the CCDMD (Centre collégial de développement de matériel didactique). On April 17, 2019 at lTHQ (Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec), the CCDMD launched a print and an electronic edition of Lexique français-anglais de la cuisine et de la restauration.
