About the Author

Marion has been a teacher and coordonator in the Paralegal Technology program at the Carleton-sur-Mer campus of Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles since 2008. She worked on creating and setting up the Paralegal Technology program offered in person or online, in a blended learning mode. She has a bachelor’s degree in law from l’Université de Montréal and has successfully completed the professional training at l’École du Barreau du Québec. She also has a specialized graduate diploma in mental health. Passionate about pedagogy, she is continuing her studies in the 3rd cycle microprogram in higher education pedagogy at Université de Sherbrooke. Always listening to her students, she is interested in academic motivation and in blended learning methods.

An Online Work-Oriented Training in Paralegal Technology

In 2020, as many programs were forced to turn to distance or blended learning, we, teachers in the new Paralegal Technology program of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, did it by choice. Our program is in its 2nd year of existence and, for a long time, the plan had been that from this year on, the program would be offered online. For us, one of the key elements of this new program was to bet on the authenticity of the learnings.

A Program Offered in Blended Learning… By Choice! - Creating a Feeling of “Being There” in the Context of Distance Learning

In 2020, while many programs turned to distance or blended learning out of obligation, we, teachers in the new Paralegal Technology program at Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, did it by choice. Our program is in its 2nd year of existence and it was planned from the beginning that, from this year on, it would be offered online. We are extremely satisfied with how the first semester unfolded and very optimistic about the future.
