Bringing Learners Together Using Desmos

David Adley Teacher (retired), Dawson College

Developing an online algebra course, David Adley started to look around for a tool that was readily accessible which would enable him to show graphs in an enhanced way. He came across a free readily available, cloud-based software called Desmos which facilitates online learning as well as the implementation of the flipped classroom and simultaneously enhances mathematical and digital literacy.

Creating a Personal Digital Learning Environment

You know the students that you’ve seen in your classes who are there in body but not in spirit and who don’t bother to take notes. These days, among the living dead, there are the ones who are depending on the SmartBoard because in my classes, they know that what was put on the board will be available to them later on. There are still some students, however, who are taking notes.

Projecting Whiteboard Content Online

Although surprisingly easy to use, the combination of an interactive electronic whiteboard and a course management system has allowed David Adley to dramatically improve student access to the information that is presented in his introductory Organic Chemistry class.
