Intellectual Integrity: It Can Be Learned!

Since spring 2015, the community of practice of the Réseau des répondantes et répondants TIC (REPTIC) and the Regroupement des bibliothèques collégiales du Québec (REBICQ) [in Fench] have combined their expertise and strengths to address a growing concern within the college network: preventing plagiarism and promoting intellectual integrity. This collaboration resulted in the Guide to Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism in spring 2020.

8 Strategies to Improve Participation in Online Courses

To improve the overall participation and the quality of the discussions in online courses, the Edutopia foundation surveyed more than twenty educators to learn about their best practices, which they then summarized as 8 concrete strategies. I have adapted them for college-level courses.

Creating a virtual community one minute at a time

With the precipitous closure of CEGEPs due to COVID-19, many activities that make CEGEPs stimulating living environments and showcase student talent were cancelled. Gilbert Forest, a socio-cultural facilitator at Cégep André-Laurendeau, and its student services teamed up with the Théâtre Desjardins (a performance hall located inside Cégep André-Laurendeau) and la Brigade Liseurs Publics [in French] (the Public Readers Brigade) to create and maintain a Facebook page, La Minute Cultur.AL [in French], to connect with the students and break the isolation caused by the confinement. I spoke with Gilbert Forest to learn more about this unifying project.

Cantare: Read Along With Your Ears !

In March 2020, the Centre collégial de développement de matériel didactique (CCDMD) released a new version of Cantare online. This tool allows you to synchronize a transcription with an audio file. Cantare is perfect for all language teachers who want to design educational activities with audio files.
