About the Author

He teaches chemistry at Cégep de Saint-Laurent. Previously, he taught at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, Collège Charles-Lemoyne, Cégep Gérald-Godin and Collège international Sainte-Anne. He also taught at the University of Montreal as a teaching assistant. He holds a PhD in Chemistry (in Germany), a Diploma in College Education (in Cameroon) and completed the certificate program in College Teaching at the University of Montreal. He has been teaching with the same passion for more than 15 years. Teaching is his vocation and supporting young people in the development of their skills is his priority.

Teaching with Interactive Videos Thanks to Edpuzzle

To diversify my teaching strategies, I use online videos. These explain concepts in a smart way through images and simple demonstrations that facilitate understanding. I use these videos in a flipped classroom approach or as part of a self-directed learning approach. Although I find the content of the videos relevant, I am not always satisfied with the students’ level of engagement. I was introduced to the Edpuzzle platform, which really meets my needs. Here’s why.

The Smartphone in Class: The Potential of Mentimeter

An enthusiast of active pedagogical approaches, I like the possibilities that technologies offer for my pedagogical practices. I will share with you my experience of a pedagogical use of cell phones in class with Mentimeter. This was a very enriching experience for my teaching in chemistry. I also gave a presentation to my colleagues during a pedagogical meeting and to my colleagues of the college network in the form of a workshop given during a thematic day offered by the ACPQ (Association des collèges privés du Québec), June 1^st, 2016.
