North Carolina State University researchers have won a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation to improve educational software by enabling it to assess facial expression, body language, speech and other cues to better respond to a student’s emotional state during the learning process.

The English Sector at Cégep à distance registered 367 unique students for close to 500 course-registrations in the 2013-2014 academic year. For the fourth consecutive year enrollment has risen from 47 students registering for 59 course-registrations in 2009-2010 to a new peak last year. The vast majority of these students were visiting students that were granted authorization to study (commandite) at Cégep à distance by English and French CEGEPs, private colleges and institutes from across the province.
